Day 17

I interrupt this day of peace, because frankly, I am too tired and feel too awful to even think of a photo idea. However, whilst sprawled out on the couch watching TV, I saw that it was the 50th birthday of bubble wrap!
So that's my photo of the day....ode to bubble wrap. All things great.

Day 16

...Peace...

Yoga. The only time I EVER shut my mind off.

Day 15

I am going to stick with a theme this week.... the weekend's theme:
PEACE

My children sleeping. Peaceful.

This photo was a challenge to take. Again, I've a lot to learn! I took this one in a room of total darkness. No autofocus, so I had no idea if I was focused or not. I didn't use a flash... I just set the camera to 15s and f/2.2. It looks like its daylight!

Day 14

PEACE
This weekend's assignment was to photograph something that makes you feel at peace. I forgot to take my camera with me when I left the house, so I had to think of something inside (it was raining out) that made me feel at peace.

I took a few photos, but then when Aidan was playing the piano, I decided to shoot some of him. Because listening to him play is wonderful. Peaceful. Beautiful.

He just so happened to be playing with his brother and sister prior to practicing, and they were dressing up. His sister so desperately wanted to wear the Badgers football uniform, so he gave it up ... hence the princess skirt he is wearing.

And once again....blur. Egad. So much blur that it is embarrassing. I am shocked that I didn't see it on my LCD.

Day 13

Ok, so I need some practice with this lens. Scratch that. I need A LOT of practice with this lens. And I need to realize that in low light settings, while it takes great photos, I can only do portraits (duh). Blur....so much blur.

Saturday's photo - Ode to Snap Circuits
These things rock. Plain and simple. Aidan has had them for a year or two and now, Elliott is playing with them and he loooooves them. Anything that they can learn from and that occupies them for hours? Rock on.

Day 12n

New Kicks!

Taken with my new fiddy ("nifty fifty!") that arrived today! This lens is so cool. I am really going to enjoy getting to know it.
But back to the sneaks. I got a new pair today because on New Years Eve, some friends wickedly talked me into doing a half-marathon with them in May. My old ones had 4 years of running in them and barely any tread left. Now those who know me know I don't have a true love of the sport --I took up running a few years ago, but have never made it past the 5K mark in a race, and 6 miles in practice. I don't enjoy it all that much - it bores me. However, I am willing to take on the challenge. Especially now that there are others that have no faith in my ability. And I am actually finding it rather exciting at this point. Which is motivating me. Yay!

Day 11

The Red Scarf Project

The Orphan Foundation of America does this Red Scarf Project that I decided to take part of this year through Craft Hope.

After starting and frogging a few different patterns, I chose this (blurry - blame it on the headache and drowsiness) one, a lace type pattern done w/ a squishy, bulky yarn. I am just about done. Yay! Only 2 days.

Day 10

My photo of the day reflects how I felt. I woke up with - and continued to have for 2 more days - the worst freaking headache. This stuff doesn't put a dent in it, but I can't take anything stronger during the day if I want to remain coherant.

Day 9

Morning Ritual...

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a morning person. So every morning, I try to get up about a half-hour before the kids so that I have time to adjust to being awake and time to read the paper and have my necessary cup o' joe (with chemically enhanced hazelnut creamer and agave nectar) before we being the mad morning rush of breakfast-clothes-teeth-hair-snowgear-walk to school.

Day 8

Belated Pink

Pink was the assignment this weekend, but I missed it. So I did pink today. Given that Norah's room is 80% pink, it certainly wasn't hard. I didn't even have to stage anything!

I took this in manual, but it was late in the day so I had to play w/ the white balance and used the incandescent setting and found I also needed some flash. I experimented with slow rear fill flash and some white fabric in front if it to diffuse the glare. I really need a swivel head flash and a soft box diffuser. One purchase at a time, right? Right.
(these notes are mostly for my reference)

Day 7

Bedtime routine

Day 6

We went sledding, so I had to rely on the ole point and shoot for today's photo. The hill was slick from some recent warmer temperatures, so there was quite a bit of wiping out. Hence, today's photo:

Wipeout!!

Day 5

It didn't turn out as I hoped, but I have 360 more days to try. I was baking some artery clogging cake for tonight's book club and I thought, hmn...this would be cool.

Day 4

As much as I hate our P&S camera, I should throw it in the car (I don't carry a purse). Because my plan for a photo yesterday went out the window when I forgot to take my camera with me (carrying my big backpack with me takes planning). So at 10:30 at night, when I saw this, I thought it was picture worthy. I was too tired to use a tripod and do anything on manual, so it was auto and flash for this gal.

...and the children were nestled all snug in their bed :)

Yep. That's my daughter. She loooves her kitties. And tucks them in every night.

Day 3

Suddenly I See....

Not one of the top 20 photos of me, but I've not yet mastered the self portrait and don't think I ever will. Its makes me very self-conscious. Anyway, the reason I took the photo was because I got new spectacles today!! After being glasses-less for roughly 4 months (I seem to have misplaced my old ones), I have some again! And I can see clearly again! Its feels very strange.

Day 2

Life!
I set out, thinking I'd get a cool photo of some snowflakes or ice crystals or the like. But instead, I found something I never thought I'd see in January in Wisconsin.... buds on a lilac bush!!!!! Its like a sign of hope here in dreary, cold, WI, the land of never-ending winter.

Day 1

I wanted to put more thought into this, but since I didn't sign up to do this until late in the day and didn't have a chance to sit down with a camera until almost 10pm, I walked through the house and decided I'd take a photo of something the kids left out. Because, well, that's the story of my life...cleaning up after them :)

This was taken using a remote on my gorillapod so that I didn't have any shake. Its 200 ISO, f/20, and 1/20s (i think). Setup courtesy of Elliott.
